Girls Inc. is in a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development of a whole girl. By partnering with schools and Girls Inc. centers, Girls Inc. delivers meaningful and long-lasting mentoring relationships and research-based programming to help girls grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
Girls Inc. has a long history of female empowerment. Starting in 1864, it was originally founded to help girls and women in the aftermath of the US Civil War. Since then, the organization has constantly adapted to help girls and young women overcome the challenges they face. Today, local Girls Inc. programs are established at more than 1,400 locations across 400 cities in the US and Canada. Their programs teach girls the importance of healthy living, introduce important life skills, and provide academic enrichment and support. Additionally, Girls Inc. is dedicated to tackling systemic barriers that affect girls’ development by through policy and advocacy. For every dollar raised, 88¢ goes directly to supporting a girl’s development.
